It can not. Amiibo are standard tags but encrypted and iOS can’t read them at all. Not a limitation of OP’s app but of iOS’ capabilities. Most standard android phones can read and write them using specific apps (and the appropriate de/encryption keys) because they have complete access to the NFC hardware drivers iirc. Late to the party but i use two programs and 1 nfc card. Tagmo to write the amiibo using their database. And then an app called "Tag Writer" from NXP to erase the data on the card to reuse it.
